Steam Gala at Bala Lake Railway

Details: The June steam gala is our biggest railway event of the year, we’ll be running an intensive passenger service with all members of the home steam fleet in operation (subject to availability) plus guest locomotives. Many passenger services will be double headed and a few triple.

In addition to the passenger services, we’ll be running demonstration freight trains composed of former slate quarry wagons taken from our extensive collection. Most freight services will run between Llanuwcyhllyn and Llangower only. At Llangower visitors will be able to witness a special shunting manoeuvre that allows the passenger trains to pass while the freight train is at the station. There will be other attractions on site including miniature and model live steam locos.
